“A day in the life of” Fergal O Connor MD of Buymedia

A little bit about what we do here at Buymedia……

We believe that no business should be at a disadvantage because they can’t access the right tools or have full visibility of the market in which they operate.

So we’ve used our 30 years of media experience to develop planning, procurement, management and monitoring tools and processes for advertising campaigns in Newspapers, Magazines, Radio, Online and Social. These tools and automated processes have helped our clients increase the return they get on their advertising campaigns by on average 30% and saved staff 24% of their time through automation.

Q 1- How does your normal day begin?

I start the day with a team video call. Make sure everyone is surviving lockdown and plan our day ahead. The main focus of these meetings is to make sure that all our advertiser’s campaigns are performing well.

Q 2- What are your biggest daily challenges?

Finding enough time to connect with all our team and clients and leave enough energy for the family at the end of the day.

Q3- What do you love most about your job?

The great business people we work with and that what we do makes a meaningful impact on the outcomes and success of these SMEs..

Q 4- What do you do to relax?

I try to get regular exercise, read a good biography or business book and listen to Indie music.

Q 5-Favourite staycation destination in Ireland and why?

Stay in Ashford Castle with a trip around Connemara, taking in Kylemore Abbey on the route. Pure luxury, natural beauty, tasty treats and supporting our clients.

Q 6-Favourite holiday destination worldwide?

Bali for the beaches, New York for the buzz, Rome for the art, culture and history and Slovakia for the skiing.

Q 7-Favourite Business motto?

Failing to plan, is planning to fail – particularly true in an advertising context.

Q 8. Advice for young business entrepreneurs 20 words

Get to breakeven before the cash runs out. Build a strong team of advisors and mentors. Be optimistic, persistent and resilient. Make friends with your bank manager. Mind yourself and your family.
