Q 1- How does your normal day begin?
Kick-off in our house is 6.45 am….. then the usual rush to get the kids out the door to school. Followed by my daily commute to work which is a great opportunity for me to focus on the day ahead and also make some calls before I hit the office.
Q 2- What are your biggest daily challenges?
These days it is catching up on my emails after a day of online meetings…… the projects that I am working on have continued throughout the pandemic which is a positive reflection on how we as a local authority responded. I’m excited about plans for projects which we will be launching this year and in particular the reopening of the Greenway.
Q3- What do you love most about your job?
It’s definitely the variety of the job and the opportunity to collaborate with stakeholders to promote Limerick as a tourist destination and also a city and county which prides itself on a destination rich in Culture and Arts. Limerick has so much to offer and is definitely a county on the rise.
Q 4- What do you do to relax?
Spending time with the kids and getting out in the fresh air on the weekends is how I like to unwind after the week. I love getting on the bikes with the kids and enjoying the stunning countryside.
Q 5-Favourite staycation destination in Ireland and why?
There were lots of day trips during 2020 which allowed everyone to explore local amenities and attractions. Our favourite was the trip to Terra Nova Fairy Gardens near Kilmallock, Co Limerick. It’s a hidden gem and the kids can’t wait to go back! A trip to Foynes to the Flying Boat Museum and a walk-in Lough Gur is also a favourite of ours.
Q 6-Favourite holiday destination worldwide?
I would have to say, New York. We had many great holidays there. However, after a family skiing trip to Zakopane, Poland has topped the list and also the ease of flying from Shannon International Airport was an added bonus when planning this family holiday.
Q 7-Favourite Business motto?
There are a few that come to mind but that one or two that stick out most….. ‘If it’s for you it won’t pass you’ or ‘where there is a challenge there is also opportunity’! I am definitely a glass half full kind of person.
Q 8. Advice for young business entrepreneurs
Perseverance is key…… no matter what path you take in life if it’s something you really want to do keep going.
