Q1: How does your normal day begin?
Bag packed from the night before, a quick bowl of porridge in the morning and off to the airport. Alas, I haven’t had a ‘normal’ start to my day in eight months. I’m looking forward to normality returning.
Q2: What are your biggest daily challenges?
Right now, it’s all about keeping the lights on for Ireland overseas and encouraging everyone at work and at home, including myself, to “hold it together”.
Q3: What do you love most about your job?
Definitely working with the great team in Tourism Ireland to promote the island of Ireland abroad.
Q4: What do you do to relax?
I do the odd 5 kms run, play some tennis and some bad golf! Having travelled extensively abroad for 19 years, it’s been really nice to spend more time with the family at home during 2020.
Q5: Favourite staycation destination in Ireland and why?
Summer holidays in Brittas Bay, as I have great memories of my kids growing up there and the West of Ireland for short breaks, as my original family roots are there.
Q6: Favourite holiday destination worldwide?
Ireland – where else!
Q7: Favourite business motto?
Authentic leadership begins with the story of your life.
Q8: Advice for young business entrepreneurs
See my previous answer. Know your story. Work hard. Be kind. Be positive. The breaks will come your way.
