Q 1- How does your normal day begin?

I’m up early with my 3 children, get them ready for school, and I’m lucky I have a childminder so once she arrives I hand over and get myself ready which includes a 10 minute meditation.

Q 2- What are your biggest daily challenges?

Daily challenges would include getting through and prioritising my work so I check my emails and usually I’ve meetings on Zoom scheduled or I might have a lecture. I’ll always have prepared the day before so if any urgent issues arise I’m able to manage them.

Q3- What do you love most about your job?

I work for myself chifit.co and I lecture for UCD Smurfit so I love the freedom that I have. However, with that comes working some late nights. I have done the corporate and full-time employee role for years. So I love the fact I have flexibility in my day – Commander of my own ship!

Q 4- What do you do to relax? Usually, I get to properly relax at the weekends, switch off, go for walks in nature, have a lovely meal or catch up with friends. Obviously in lockdown life is different but still it’s about emptying my mind and enjoying the simple things in life.

Q 5-Favourite staycation destination in Ireland and why?

I adore the West of Ireland, Kerry, West Cork and Galway. I’ve been going to Kerry every year since I was a child, the scenery is breathtaking, the mountains, the coast, the people – it’s like a little piece of heaven.

Q 6-Favourite holiday destination worldwide?

I love Europe but my top two destinations were Kenya when I was younger it was an incredible experience, a family holiday on Safari but also saw the poverty which was traumatic to observe. I was lucky to go to Hawaii, Maui it was beyond beautiful a little far away but a must see. Love France and for the children Portugal and Spain so easy.

Q 7-Favourite Business motto?

Nike said it best ‘Just do it’

Q 8. Advice for young business entrepreneurs

Self-belief, resilience and determination. Research and think what it is you have a passion for and is there a market opportunity or a gap that you could fill? If so then take time to consider, develop and once you find what it is – put all your effort and focus behind your business concept and don’t be afraid to go for it!
