A day in the life of Sabrina Amodeo Director Tuscany Bistro

Newport-based businesswoman and mother of two, Sabrina Amodeo, has always aspired to do something big.

She has certainly achieved just that since moving to Ireland in 1999,  opening three restaurants, starting a food catering business, and founding Amodeo dressings, a line of salad dressings and balsamic vinegars based on an old family recipe – all while raising two kids.

Born in South Africa in the late 60’s to two amazing and talented Italian parents, I was fortunate to spend my childhood under the magnificent African skies,

My career took me to the exciting world of Marketing, working with one of the best firms in South Africa. I opened my own company at 23. What an adventure that was! We had the privileged of being involved in so many memorable and successful campaigns and met the greatest of friends along the way.

Q 1- How does your normal day begin?
Every day starts with gratitude and positivity. I am generally a night owl so I ease into my day gently. I could find myself in my office or alternatively in one of the bistros or meeting corporate clients. Boring it never is!

Q 2- What are your biggest daily challenges?
Our challenges tend to change weekly. At the moment our biggest challenge is constantly adapting to our current COVID-19 climate. Every week is different!

Q3- What do you love most about your job?
I absolutely love our Tuscany team and watching them grow and develop, our customers who keep us motivated and inspired and working in the food sector is a total labour of love

Q 4- What do you do to relax?
I have a bit of an obsession with jigsaw puzzles and scary movies. There is a good old fashioned saying in Italian which goes ‘Dolce far Niente’ or ‘The sweetness of doing nothing’. I tend to spend time enjoying peace and quiet.

I absolutely adore Dingle and Clonakilty. The beauty, energy, restaurants and atmosphere is truly special.
