West Cork Silver: Jewellery with a Little Wild Weather in It
Originally from West Cork, Pauline grew up surrounded by a landscape where water, weather and light are constantly changing. Today, those elements form the visual language of West Cork Silver. Waves, reeds, moonlight on water, shifting skies and even familiar Irish road signs are translated into contemporary pieces designed to be worn, rather than saved for some mythical “good occasion”.
West Cork Silver is a contemporary Irish jewellery brand founded by silversmith and designer Pauline Browne, creating sterling silver pieces inspired by the coast and wildly unpredictable weather of West Cork.
Light is particularly important in Pauline’s work. She bends, shapes, polishes and textures silver to catch, scatter and reflect it — recreating something of the glint of sunlight on a lake, moonlight across a bay or the fractured surface of the Atlantic. As the wearer moves, the jewellery changes with them. The effect is subtle, but deliberately so: pieces with presence rather than noise.
Each piece begins with Pauline and is created using techniques including hand-carving, fabrication and lost-wax casting. Made in recycled sterling silver, every piece is individually finished and quality-checked before being hallmarked at the Assay Office in Dublin Castle.
One of the collection’s most popular pieces is Night Wave, inspired by the Atlantic after dark. Its textured surface captures the movement of a wave and catches changing light beautifully, making it an easy everyday pendant with rather more personality than “everyday” might suggest. It is particularly loved by those with a connection to the sea, surfing and the coast.
For gifting, Where the Heart Is has become a signature West Cork Silver piece. Inspired by Irish road signs, the reversible sterling silver pendant has two distinct sides: the road-sign design on one and a secret heart on the reverse. It can be worn either way, making it an especially personal gift for someone with a connection to a particular place, someone living away from home, or simply someone who understands that home is rarely just an address. The design is currently available in 14 different locations.

The wider collection includes pendants, earrings, rings and cufflinks at price points from €45 upwards, making West Cork Silver particularly suited to birthdays, anniversaries, Christmas, milestones and those far better gifts bought for no official reason whatsoever.
West Cork Silver was a 2026 finalist in the Jewellery category of the Irish Made Awards, is part of the Design & Crafts Council Ireland Made Local campaign, and Pauline has also exhibited work in Sculpture in Context at the National Botanic Gardens.
At its heart, West Cork Silver is about contemporary Irish jewellery with character: pieces with enough story to mean something, but enough restraint to become part of how someone dresses every day.
