Ireland News- Boyne Valley Trails September Walking Festival

Boyne Valley Trails Group, in association with Love Drogheda BIDs (Business Improvement District scheme) and sponsored by Failte Ireland are delighted to announce the upcoming “Boyne Valley Trails September Walking Festival.”

Running from the 19th to 25th of September the festival will consist of a variety of walks for all levels and interests. Let our enthusiastic, expert local guides share their vast knowledge and passion for local history, heritage, nature, fitness, and mythology with you, surrounded by the stunning landscape of the Boyne Valley Region. Dusty Flanagan, a member of the Boyne Valley Trails group and guide for the Boyne Camino walks, among others, stated “The Boyne Valley Trails group are grateful for the support from Failte Ireland for Drogheda and the Boyne Valley. This group has been hoping to host an event of this scale for the past three years. We are excited by the opportunity to showcase the Boyne Valley region as a fantastic walking destination with a huge variety of walks available.”

The walks will weave through the Boyne Valley Region from Carlingford to Brú na Boinne Newgrange, and everywhere in between. “We see this as a huge opportunity for visitors to explore the region at a different pace with our team of dedicated local guides who deliver the unique story of the area. The festival will also host a series of guest talks from walkers and adventurers who will share their experiences from across the globe together in the warm intimate setting of Drogheda’s best venues”-Trevor Connolly, Love Drogheda BID CEO.

Orla Carroll, Director of Product Development from Fáilte Ireland said “Fáilte Ireland is pleased to support the Boyne Valley Trails September Walking Festival, in partnership with Love Drogheda BIDs. Innovative events and participative festivals give new reasons and motivations for domestic and international visitors to travel to explore an area. The Boyne Valley Trails September Walking Festival will encourage participants to visit Meath, Louth and the wider Boyne Valley region, encouraging them to stay longer and spend more and driving benefits for local businesses and the local economy. This festival will not only showcase the beautiful scenery of the Boyne Valley, it will also highlight the fantastic outdoor activity offering for walkers and hikers in Ireland’s Ancient East, which is hugely important as we drive recovery across the tourism sector.”

While in Drogheda, festival attendees can avail of the many leisure and food offerings available in the town, with events run on each night in a different venue across the town. Not to be missed will be guest speakers who will share their experiences from travels and adventures across the globe.

Please note walks may be modified on the day due to weather conditions at the guides discretion.
