VICTORIAN CHARM IN THE HEART OF CONNEMARA, Screebe House is the ultimate country escape just 40 minutes drive from Galway City

Tucked away in the idyllic surrounds of Camus Bay, experience the best of what Connemara has to offer at one of Ireland’s finest Victorian country homes, Screebe House.

Built in 1872 and lovingly restored by the Burkart family in 2010, Screebe House offers guests an experience of luxury comfort, and effortless charm. With open fireplaces, high ceilings and heritage décor, Screebe’s elegant spaces evoke a sense of grandeur and provide the perfect setting to read a good book or savour a delicious glass of wine while taking in the breathtaking scenery.

Rooms & Suites

Beautifully appointed guest rooms and suites await guests, offering timeless quality and retaining the original character of the house with understated luxury and home comforts. Each guest room is unique in style with antique features, cosy furnishings, and modern en-suite bathrooms with underfloor heating, overlooking stunning views of the bay and the lovingly groomed gardens. In line with Screebe’s philosophy to motivate guests to relax and unwind during their stay, there are no TVs in any of the rooms. This is to encourage guests to switch off and explore all that Screebe and Connemara has to offer. WiFi, however, is available to all guests.

The Spa Lodge

Adjacent to the house is the modern Spa Lodge, boasting an array of amenities and treatments for guests to unwind in a peaceful setting overlooking Camus Bay. An oasis of calm and comfort, the Spa Lodge features a saltwater indoor swimming pool, a large sauna flooded with natural light and panoramic views, a fitness area, seaweed baths and an outdoor hot tub for the ultimate country escape. Guests are encouraged to awaken the senses by jumping off the nearby pier into the wild Atlantic followed by a warm sauna and a soak in the outdoor hot tub.

Fine Dining

The elegant dining room at Screebe offers a relaxed atmosphere with beautiful views and a tempting choice of menus. The fine-dining menu has been carefully curated by Head Chef Max Schindler, who takes guests on a culinary journey through the finest seasonal ingredients sourced from local artisan suppliers from across Galway and the wider Connacht area. A true artist, Chef Max’s innovative dishes and natural creative flair often feature fresh fish caught on one of Screebe’s lakes or delicious venison from the land. Using all-natural and organic ingredients, all produce is carefully researched and sourced with sustainability at the forefront.

Things to Do

Screebe, originating from the Irish word ‘scribe’ meaning destination, is ideally located for those who want to explore the stunning scenery of Connemara or partake in a wealth of activities available, from renting bikes to fishing, deer spotting, swimming, hiking, and more.

Experience the quiet luxury of Screebe House with this exclusive Autumn offer.
