Tourism has taken a hit this year, and as a result, countless people across the industry have been pushing to adapt to and evolve with the challenges. One such example is in Ireland, where a new digital directory for the country’s tourism, hospitality and craft sectors hopes to revive how people discover incredible local experiences and gifts.
Called Go Wild Ireland, the platform was recently created by the Irish travel magazine of the same name, and aims to make it as seamless as possible for businesses to list their offerings online. With Ireland having just become the first European country to enter into a full lockdown for the second time this year, the platform will allow users to search for hotels, restaurants, points of interest and Irish companies selling food and drinks. Categories include accommodation, attractions, pottery and ceramics, independent retail stores and online fashion.
“COVID-19 has seriously impacted tourism and hospitality industries in particular so we hope to allow businesses to attract new sales from both a national audience and an international online audience. The website will allow direct online purchases and bookings without commissions and by showcasing the best that Ireland has to offer, potential visitors can access it for information on where to go, stay, eat and enjoy,” creator Bobby Power told Lonely Planet.
The directory allows users to search for a range of activities and experiences in different places across the country.

“Ireland as a country is totally unique as it offers the visitors so much from the wildness on the Wild Atlantic Way to the history of Ireland’s Ancient East. Irish people have been a major success worldwide in business, sport and life and we are loved for our sense of adventure, craic, laughter, music, and personalities. In short, the Irish as a race of people are simply amazing.” Bobby said. Go Wild Magazines currently produce seven titles a year showcasing the best experiences across Ireland. More information is available at the official website.
