There are 62.9 million posts about it on Instagram, more people than ever hit the road in 2021 and road-tripping is predicted to be one of the most popular travel trends again in 2022. Cannonball Ireland is now gearing up for the first of five Irish and International road trips in 2022.  Foreign Cannonball trips appeal to a much wider group than just car enthusiasts. They are intimate and convivial with just sixty people in thirty cars and designed with adventure, luxury, breath-taking scenery, unforgettable experiences and spontaneity in mind.

The Grand Highlands Road Trip is the first Cannonball Road trip for 2022 and this year, demand has been so high that two separate trips have been organised after the first one sold out in a few days.   Wanderlust has indeed returned and as they say in the Highlands “Whit’s fur ye’ll no go past ye”

The Grand Highlands Road Trip departs Belfast Port at 7.30am on April 21st on the Stena Superfast VII and participants will relax in the reserved club lounge for the crossing.  The driving route takes in the scenic coastline of Cairnryn, Loch Lomond and the famous Loch Ness to catch a glimpse of its mythical resident. The exhilarating driving route also takes in Loch Shim, Aberdeen, the stunning Cairngorms National Park, Edinburgh, Glasgow, the South-Central Belt of Scotland towards Cairnryan taking in more scenic coastlines and then homeward bound.

What really adds to the appeal of Cannonball foreign trips is the exquisite choice of hotels, restaurants and nightlife. Lunch stops include picturesque Ballathie Country House Hotel with its two AA Rosettes and the beautiful Carrick Golf Club on Loch Lomond.  Hotels for overnight stays include the Majestic Kings Mill Hotel in Inverness, Ardoe House Hotel & Spa in Aberdeen, The Sheraton Grand Hotel in Edinburgh and Cameron House, the lovingly restored Luxury Hotel on Loch Lomond.  The Cannonball Grand Highlanders dine like kings and can then take a walk on the wild side with reservations in the top clubs, bars and nocturnal playgrounds along the route.

Drivers bring their own cars by Ferry for trips like Grand Highlands which are closer to home but car hire options are also available.  The gleaming convoy of supercars make quite a spectacle.  A Bugatti Veyron stole the limelight a few years ago but many also choose Range Rover, BMW, Mercedes and all are welcome.
