A group of travel agents, representing ten different travel agencies across Germany, is visiting Ireland this week – exploring some of the many things to see and do in Cork city and county. They were invited here by Tourism Ireland, in conjunction with Fáilte Ireland and the German travel trade publication Touristik Aktuell.
The aim of the travel agents’ visit is to familiarise them with Ireland and our superb tourism offering so that when they return home, they will be better informed and more enthusiastic than ever about Ireland when advising their clients about planning and booking their holidays here.
The group’s action-packed itinerary includes visits to the Rock of Cashel, Charles Fort, Clonakilty Distillery, Mizen Head and West Cork Farm Tours in Rosscarbery. The travel agents enjoyed a walking tour with Kinsale Heritage Walks and an immersive experience with Kinsale Pottery, where they learned how to use the pottery wheel and create a decorative wall hanging. They also took in a cycle on the Cork Harbour Greenway with Beyond the Glass Adventure Tours.
Nadine Lehmann, Tourism Ireland’s Manager Germany, said: “Tourism Ireland was delighted to invite this group of German travel agents to visit Ireland, to experience at first-hand the wealth of things to see and do here for German holidaymakers. Seeing is believing – and our aim is that when they return home, they will be even more enthusiastic about the destination, helping to secure a greater share of their business for Ireland in 2025 and beyond.”
