A group of German travel agents has been exploring Ireland and sharing their experience here with their followers on social media. The travel agents work with DERTOUR Reisebüro, one of the largest tour operators in Germany, and are visiting as guests of Tourism Ireland and Fáilte Ireland.
The aim of the travel agents’ visit is not just to familiarise them with Ireland and our superb tourism offering, but also to help them capture stunning images and videos here – which they can then share on their social channels. Before they came here, the travel agents attended a social media content creation workshop in Düsseldorf, where they learned how to create top-performing travel content for social media. German influencer Sarah Ploss (@grossstadtklein) is accompanying the group, to show them how they can put their learning into practice and showcase some of the many things to see and do here as effectively as possible on their social media channels. Sarah is also capturing lots of stunning content here and sharing with her 13,300 followers on Instagram.
The group’s action-packed itinerary included a visit to Dead Centre Brewing in Athlone, kayaking at Baysports in Hodson Bay, seaweed foraging at Streedagh Beach and a food tour with Taste of Sligo, as well as visits to the Atlantic Sheepdog Experience, Rosses Point Beach, Westport House, Wild Nephin National Park, DK Connemara Oysters, Kylemore Abbey and Galway City Distillery. To finish off their trip, the group enjoyed a Trad on the Prom show in Galway city.
Nadine Lehmann, Tourism Ireland’s Manager Germany, said: “Tourism Ireland was delighted to invite this group of German travel agents to Ireland, to experience at first-hand the wealth of things to see and do here for German holidaymakers. They’ve been sharing lots of great images and videos with their followers on social media. We’re also delighted that they’ve been joined by German influencer Sarah Ploss, who is also highlighting her time in Ireland to her followers on Instagram.
“Our aim is that the travel agents will be more enthusiastic than ever about the destination, when they return home, helping to secure a greater share of their business for Ireland in 2023 and beyond. Working with the travel trade is an important element of Tourism Ireland’s promotional activity in Germany.”
