Rain or Shine, Waterford has you covered this winter season

Wonderful Woodlands, Breathtaking Beaches and Majestic Mountains, Waterford has everything you need for the ultimate winter break

Nestled in the heart of Ireland’s Ancient East and a short drive from Cork and Dublin, Waterford is a must-visit this winter. With an abundance of seasonal and festive events on the horizon and an endless list of fun-filled activities for all, Visit Waterford members look forward to welcoming visitors to Waterford throughout the coming season.

With the much anticipated Imagine Arts Festival, Tramore Winter Lights Festival at Lafacdio Hearn Japanese Gardesn and the nationally renowned Waterford Winterval Ireland’s Christmas Festival fast approaching, Waterford has it all.

Visit Waterford, the representative body which promotes tourism to Waterford city and county, says domestic visitors alone in 2022 brought €106 million in revenue to the local Waterford economy, according to Fáilte Ireland statistics. Visitors to the premium south-east destination can continue to immerse themselves in the extensive walking and hiking routes throughout Waterford city and county, rain or shine.

To assist visitors to the southeast through all seasons, Visit Waterford has launched new merchandise as it encourages staycations to the southeast this winter. The new merchandise, which includes high-quality Visit Waterford umbrellas and water bottles, were unveiled today at the Waterford Greeenway by Visit Waterford Chairperson, Sara Dolan, and Cllr. Joe Conway, Mayor of the City and County of Waterford.

Commenting on the announcement of Visit Waterford’s new merchandise, Sara Dolan, Chairperson of Visit Waterford said: “We are delighted to launch our own merchandise, encouraging visitors to Waterford in both summer and winter months, and everything in between. Domestic tourism is so important to our local economy. We want visitors to know that Waterford isn’t just a destination for summer, it has so much to offer all year round. As well as Ireland’s oldest city, Waterford county has extensive hiking trails, beautiful walkways and stunning coastlines that are just as enjoyable in autumn, winter and spring.”

Mayor of the City and County of Waterford, Cllr. Joe Conway, added: “We have so much to offer here in Waterford. As the busy summer season has drawn to a close, we have an abundance of events throughout the autumn and winter to look forward to, like the much-loved Waterford Winterval Ireland’s Christmas festival, finishing 2023 with a bang, giving people a reason to visit Waterford all-year-round, not just in summer.”
