The American travel bible’s awards rank the world’s best hotels, resorts, cities, countries, trains, airlines and cruises.
The Best Resort in the World award is the latest in a long line of awards for the exclusive five-star castle hotel, which is set in an 840-acre estate and features sumptuous accommodations, luxurious spa treatment rooms and world-class dining facilities. It also offers a range of experiences including fishing, archery, clay pigeon shooting, horse riding and golf.
Adare Manor’s spectacular golf course, designed by renowned golf course architect, Tom Fazio, has been chosen as the location for the 2027 Ryder Cup.
Two other Irish hotels made the Readers’ Choice Awards list of the top 50 hotels in the world.
The Westbury, in Dublin, was listed 36th in the world and the number one hotel in Ireland. Its grand, bifurcated staircase, sophisticated 1930s-style restaurant and Parisian-style brasserie are just some of the highlights of this modern, five-star boutique hotel. Upstairs, the rooms and suites are light-filled and tranquil, with large bathtubs and decorated with Irish art. The hotel is a popular city centre meeting place and a great base for exploring Dublin.
At number 49 on the top 50 in the world list and ranked as the number two hotel in Ireland is The Marker, another Dublin city centre hotel. Located in Grand Canal Square in Dublin’s rejuvenated docklands, The Marker Hotel is a sleek geometric building sitting next to Dublin’s premier entertainment venue, Bord Gáis Energy Theatre. The Marker’s interiors blend a contemporary cosmopolitan vibe with luxury. Its award-winning spa features a fabulous infinity pool, while the rooftop bar provides great views of the city and beyond to the Dublin mountains.
In other Readers’ Choice Awards, Ashford Castle, County Mayo, was named number seven in the list of Best Resorts in Europe, and Ireland was named the friendliest country in Europe for its warm welcome.
Belfast in Northern Ireland took eighth place in the Best Cities in the UK list and fourth place in the Friendliest Cities in the UK category.
