South, new restaurant and bar at The K Club, opens this spring creating 30 new jobs at the resort

Adding to their polished portfolio of food and beverage offerings, The K Club opens South this March, a fresh new restaurant and bar with an expansive terrace overlooking the Palmer South course at the resort. The new restaurant and bar is south of the estate’s private mile-long stretch of the River Liffey, thus the simple, descriptive name — South.

The bigger, bolder sister of the five-star resort’s elegant destination option, The Barton Restaurant, and stylish all-day dining venue, The Palmer, South at The K Club is designed to be casually cool and a feast of flavour and colour. With an impressive statement bar for drinks and cocktails, relaxed open plan seating for every occasion and the handsome outdoor terrace with gorgeous views across the lush greens of the Palmer South course, South restaurant and bar at The K Club is perfect for big get-togethers, a Saturday night family treat, a long lazy breakfast, or a beer and burger post golf.

South restaurant and bar at The K Club has four distinct spaces flowing into each other, seating up to 160 diners. With dramatic curved windows and floor to ceiling glass doors opening out onto the cosy glazed terrace with its roll-down glass panels, the spaces are decorated in shades of warm cream, deep green and burnt orange, with brass accents, custom-built panelling, statement lights, bronze mirrors reflecting the light and a coffered ceiling.

With a generous, carefully considered menu created by the restaurant’s head chef, Trevor Moran, South will be open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, seven days a week during high season. Casual and family-friendly, South has something for everyone, from croquettes and chicken wings to zingy salads from Wicklow’s River Gold Farm, grilled steaks and burgers from Hicks Butchers, and pizzas made in house.

“We’re really looking forward to introducing South to our guests and local diners this March,” says The K Club General Manager, Paul Heery. “For our latest food adventure we’ve taken a step or two off the beaten path, creating a destination that doesn’t stand on ceremony — South is bold, buzzy and fun, adding a new, seriously laid-back outlet to our dining options at The K Club.

We’re also creating 30 new jobs at our five-star resort with this opening, and we’re currently actively recruiting for a variety of roles in South, including at both front and back of house. We’re keen to find an exceptional F&B Operations Manager as well as waitstaff and bartenders among other opportunities at front of house, and chefs de partie, sous chefs and kitchen porters at back of house.

And then from March, we’re very excited to invite our guests and neighbours to what we hope will be the backdrop to great days and nights out, and to venture South.”
