Hutton Brickyards, US
Upstate New York is the bolt hole of choice for weekending city dwellers with a yen to get back to nature. Surrounded by the woodlands, mountains and farms of the Catskills, Hutton Brickyards is set to open in April on the edge of the Hudson Valley’s creative capital, Kingston. With views out over the majestic Hudson River, this imaginatively repurposed industrial site will feature 31 guest cabins as well as a spa, open-air wood-fired kitchens, archery and a croquet lawn. Soho House, St Vincent & the Grenadines
Soho House has a number of projects in the pipeline including new hotels in Tel Aviv, Rome and Paris. The first to start dreaming about is the group’s Caribbean debut, Soho Beach House Canouan, on the silky sands of this idyllic Grenadine island – nicely timed given the launch of Virgin Atlantic’s new service from London to the archipelago in June. Milla Montis, South Tyrol
Wood and stone are the dominant materials used for the Milla Montis, its outline echoing the surrounding jagged peaks of the Unesco World Heritage-list Dolomite mountain range in Italy’s South Tyrol. This striking building in Maranza shies away from twee Alpine clichés. The Dean Cork, Ireland
Cork’s hotel scene has needed a shake-up. This has come in the shape of an outpost of Dublin’s boutique The Dean Hotel, in the city centre’s newly regenerated waterfront at Horgan’s Quay on the edge of the charming Victorian Quarter. It overlooks the River Lee, and the brand’s funky style prevails in the 114 rooms with mini Smeg fridges, record players and Netflix enabled TV. Azumi, Japan
You can experience some centuries-old, traditional Japanese ryokan culture at Azumi Setoda, due to open in March on the small island of Ikuchijima in the Seto Inland Sea. It’s the first of a new brand from Amanresorts founder, Adrian Zecha. The updated ryokan is housed in a traditional-style, 140-year old building with another “yubune” or bath house across the street housing more guestrooms and traditional bathing for both guests and the local community. MarBella Elix, Greece
Visitors to Greece naturally gravitate towards its enticing islands, but the mainland should not be overlooked. On a stretch of coastline in the northwest near the seaside city of Parga, the new MarBella Elix opens in April, perched on a forested hill looking out over the Ionian Sea towards Corfu. Bedrooms and suites afford wide angle sea views and the resort is aimed squarely at families with numerous activities including hiking, biking and water sports. Bai San Ho, Vietnam
Zannier Hotels latest lust inducing launch is the 71 villa Bai San Ho, tucked away on a peninsula at Phu Yen norther of Nha Trang on Vietnam’s south-central coast. Set among paddy fields and swaying palm trees overlooking a coral-reef fringe bay, the resort’s design taps into the local vernacular; traditional building techniques and local materials were used and the tower-like main restaurant is inspired by the communal houses of the surrounding Bahnar villages. The Harper, Norfolk
The north Norfolk village of Langham’s historic, former glass blowing factory is soon to be one of the UK’s latest coastal getaways. About a mile to the big skies and endless horizons of the North Norfolk coast, The Harper, which is due to open in March, will have 32 airy bedrooms, done in a style that doffs its cap to the building’s industrial heritage. Hotel Saint-Delis, France
There are just nine rooms at the Hôtel Saint-Délis set in an atmospheric, 17th-century mansion in the heart of Normandy’s picturesque port of Honfleur. The former home of artist, Henri de Saint-Délis from 1878 to 1949, its rooms are done in a smart and sophisticated style and there’s a pretty garden. Zoku, Denmark
Zoku Copenhagen follows the original in Amsterdam and is a new hybrid concept of apartment-style hotel living. Opening in April, there are 160 cleverly designed lofts with a youthful vibe close to the University of Copenhagen’s Southern Campus and green spaces of Amager Common Nature Park on Amager Island, but just five minutes to the city centre by metro. Can Ferretera, Mallorca
An art-filled, 17th-century country mansion sets the scene for Can Ferrereta, which opens in April and is the latest hotel from the team behind Palma’s Sant Francesc Hotel Singular. Set in the golden stone village of Santanyi in the south east of the island – a popular spot with artists – and a short distance from the coast, the hotel will have 32 rooms. Three Mile Beach, Cornwall
A visiting food truck highlighting Cornwall’s best fare is one of the novelties for guests at Three Mile Beach, a nostalgia-seeped collection of 15 beach huts just outside St Ives.

Villa Dagmar, Sweden
Dagmar Bergsten, a well-travelled, sophisticated ancestor of the hotel’s owners, was the inspiration for the new Villa Dagmar, a quiet escape in the heart of Stockholm’s Ostermalmstorg neighbourhood. Set in a 19th-century building that was once home to the doctor and psychiatrist, Axel Munthe, the 70-room hotel, which opens this Spring, will haave smartly designed rooms and a restaurant tie-up with the duo behind the city’s Michelin-starred Aloe restaurant and an organic food store. Evora Farm Hotel, Portugal
The tranquil meadow and olive tree-dotted landscape of the Alentejo region is often likened to Tuscany, although it has a charm of its own. The Evora Farm Hotel is contemporary-styled rural retreat with a sustainable slant opening here in March with 56 rooms that aims to introduce both adults and children to the outdoor delights of this particular part of Portuguese countryside. A range of pursuits include nature walks, horse riding, stargazing, gastro-experiences and bird watching. Bethlen Estates, Romania
Later this Spring, Bethlen Estates will open its doors in the village of Cris in Transylvania’s Carpathian Mountains. The ancestral seat of the Bethlen dynasty with one of the country’s most important Renaissance castles, will offer a number of restored, high-end guesthouses to rent on the estate. Guests can expect picnics in flower-filled meadows, bike rides, carriage riding and rambles through what is often described as one of Europe’s last great wildernesses. Habitas Bacalar, Mexico
Disruptor hotel brand, Habitas, has seen dizzying growth with its millennial-friendly focus, innovative design and an on-trend emphasis on connecting with the surroundings and local community. Its third property Habitas Bacalar opens this spring by the crystalline waters of the Laguna Bacalar between the Mayan Riviera and Belize border. With an environmental project in the pipeline for the lagoon, there will be 35 tented rooms with water views. Iniali Harbour House, Malta
Iniala Harbour House in the Unesco World Heritage-listed city of Valletta will be swinging open its doors in April. It is spread across four historic townhouses on St Barbara Bastion with 23 imaginatively decorated guestrooms and a rooftop restaurant with great views out over Grand Harbour. The Pavilions Anana, Thailand
In February, The Pavilions Hotels Anana Krabi will debut amid the emerald green landscape of Krabi’s Phang-Nga Bay, surrounded by the dramatic limestone cliffs and soft, sandy beaches. The 59-room resort will have a farm to table restaurant, a spa with Himalayan Salt Chamber, yoga, excursions exploring the network of mangrove swamps by solar-powered longtail boat and a pool whose waters are fed by the waters of a volcanic, mountain river. Kingsland Locke, London
Launching this winter, Kingsland Locke is a boutique hotel-style take on self-catering in Dalston in the East End.
