Game of Thrones star Indira Varma will launch a new display of Dorne costumes at the world’s only Game of Thrones Studio Tour in Northern Ireland.
Indira Varma, who starred as Ellaria Sand in HBO’s blockbuster series Game of Thrones, will launch a new display of Dorne costumes at the Game of Thrones Studio Tour in Banbridge, County Down, on June 30.
Created in partnership with Warner Bros. Themed Entertainment, the world’s only official Game of Thrones Studio Tour is located at Linen Mill Studios, where a significant proportion of the show’s Northern Ireland-based filming took place.
The tour showcases the original costumes, weapons, props and sets and explores the creative artistry that brought Game of Thrones to life on screen.
The new display will feature costumes worn by characters from the Kingdom of Dorne, including elaborate dresses donned by Ellaria Sand and her daughters, Obara, Nymeria, and Tyene, and an opulent Dorne Guard costume. It will also include a prancing horse created by the show’s award-winning special effects team.
Indira first appeared in Season 4 of Game of Thrones as the paramour of Prince Oberyn Martell, played by actor Pedro Pascal.
She said: “It simply had to happen, a Studio Tour where Game of Thrones was filmed, celebrating the making of a remarkable TV series that millions loved. It will be special being there and launching a new Dorne costume display.
“I have fond memories of filming on Game of Thrones in Northern Ireland, and it will be great to see those costumes again, and to learn more of the secrets behind the making of Game of Thrones.”
In addition to the new Dorne costume display, the battle outfit worn by Oberyn Martell during his famous showdown with The Mountain will be displayed for the first time, recalling one of the most famous scenes in the series.
The new display adds another dimension to the tour experience, which takes visitors from the frozen North of ‘The Land Beyond the Wall’ down to ‘King’s Landing’ and the famous Throne Room. Highlights include the Great Hall of Winterfell, the Hall of Faces and the huge dragon skulls.
The studio tour is just one of a raft of great Game of Thrones experiences that can be enjoyed in Northern Ireland. There are numerous guided tours around the shoot locations, you can follow the Glass of Thrones trail in Belfast and you can even enjoy a Game of Thrones themed afternoon tea at historic Ballygally Castle.
