Happy New Year!
2021 has begun and it looks a little like an already-drunk friend at the start of a dinner party – you are happy to see them but you wish they weren’t so messy! Still, we will do our best and that is all that can be expected. Always.
This year, one thing I would caution everyone against is deadlines – setting deadlines that are unrealistic can demotivate your staff. During this tough time, they need something else; not more of the same. Look for the lifelines that bring positivity and start dishing them out. I started the year with a great lifeline just when I was feeling a little demotivated. I received an email with the great news that I was nominated for EMCC Global Coach of the Year for the second year in a row. Being part of the EMCC is important to my professionalism and the standards I adhere to. Added to that, the network they provide has been a real source of strength in the past year particularly. I value the nomination greatly but I value the organisation even more. I have the privilege of working with companies from a variety of industries. This month I have been coaching leaders in forestry, helping develop a strong positive culture for a health insurance company and coaching a group of sales managers on execution excellence. If you or your company need an extra boost in 2021 and want to thrive in tough times then please go to www.stephennaughton.com, and contact me. I am always open to new conversations and I’m passionate about helping leaders be the best they can be – together we can create lifelines.
Now, on to the main event!
Selling is a key leadership skill but do you struggle with sales in your company? Do the thoughts of picking up the phone and making a pitch fill you with dread?
If so, this episode of the Good Boss Bad Boss Podcast is for you. My guest this month is Seanie Meyler. Seanie is a sales expert and trains companies in how to sell with purpose and sustainability. He’s also a former intercounty footballer with 2 Ulster provincial titles for Tyrone and he raised 29k for intensive care units in April last year by running a marathon in his shed! He is a powerhouse of knowledge a great guy to get to know.
