Fercullen Irish Whiskey wins Gold again at the International Wine & Spirits Competition

 


Powerscourt Distillery is delighted to announce the latest additions to it’s ever-growing medal collection.  Four IWSC Awards for Fercullen Whiskeys were presented at last week’s annual competition. Fercullen Whiskeys have been awarded another Gold Medal in the prestigious International Wine & Spirit Competition 2021!

The Awards 

Gold Medal –  Fercullen 18Yo Single Malt  

Judges note “A remarkable whiskey with excellent balance and complexity. Truly sensorial.“

Silver Medal – Fercullen 14Yo Single Malt

Judges notes  “A fascinating whiskey”

and   Bronze Medals – 10YO Single Grain & 8YO Premium Blend.

Released by Master Distiller Noel Sweeney, Fercullen 18-Year-Old Single Malt has been matured in bourbon barrels for over 18 years to deliver an exceptional whiskey perfect for celebrating special moments. Tasting notes reveal oak and bourbon tones which marry to give plenty of depth and character while retaining exquisitely balanced flavours:

Nose:   Honey, vanilla, sweet malty, spice, almonds, cinnamon, ripe fruits, rich cherries, plums and oak wood.

Palate:  Smooth.  Layer upon layer of sweet, creamy malt, vanilla, ripe fruits, syrupy caramel, spice and crisp oak.

Finish:   Malty to start with a long-lasting sweet spice, malt and fruity finish.

In line with Government Guidelines, Powerscourt Distillery re-opened for guided tours on the 19th of July. Powerscourt Distillery is only 30 mins from Dublin, nestled on the beautiful Powerscourt Estate & Gardens, Enniskerry, Co.Wicklow.

Engaging all of the senses, visitors can enjoy a fully immersive, grain to glass whiskey distillery tour and tasting. Experience first-hand the sights, sounds and aromas of Wicklow’s only fully operational Irish Whiskey Distillery. Cultivate an appreciation of the ancient art of whiskey distillation before visiting the on-site Maturation Warehouse used to fill and store whiskey casks. Indulge in a Wicklow food and whiskey pairing experience with local artisan foods and Fercullen whiskeys specially selected by the resident food historian. The chosen seasonal foods reflect the history, legacy and innovation of Wicklow and its local producers.

Ultimate Irish Whiskey Experience:  Distillery and Warehouse tour of Wicklow’s only fully operational Whiskey Distillery, concludes with a sampling of four of their award-winning Fercullen Irish Whiskeys. 8-year-old blend, 10-year-old Single Grain, 14-year-old Single Malt & 18-year-old Single Malt. This option is €25pp.

Wicklow Food & Whiskey Pairing Experience is €35pp,  this includes the full tour and tasting with the addition of local artisan foods specifically chosen to pair with each of the Fercullen Whiskeys.
